CALLING ALL MUSICIANS!
by Cheri Sykes, Director of Music

It's September, the  season again to invite you to participation in our thriving music program!

Our
Adult Choir begins its new season with rehearsals on Wednesday evenings to grace our 9:30 a.m. liturgies. We improve every year, as evidenced by our increasing ability to sing challenging pieces a cappella (unaccompanied). We claim an unusually strong men's section these days. Come experience the joy of creating a beautiful prayer in sound together, while you grow in vocal and musicianship skills. While choir is a commitment, we offer generous flexibility in working with your busy schedule. You may sing with us seasonally, such as for Christmas or Easter; childcare is also an option. Just talk with me, Cheri Sykes. We'll try to make it as convenient as possible.

Likewise, we welcome newcomers to our Acoustic Folk Ensemble, called Earthen Vessels.  This group sings twice monthly at the Saturday 4:30 p.m. Mass, with rehearsals  also twice monthly on Monday evenings.  Singers and instrumentalists of all kinds are invited.

Our 11:30 a.m.
Jazz and Eclectic Combo, Wild Honey & the Locusts (Matt. 3:4), is always seeking musicians with strong improvisational skills.

The Hallelujah Chorus, for children in the third through sixth grades, will re-convene soon. Ably led by Mary Anne Bennek, it rehearses on Wednesdays and sings monthly. Children will develop basic singing and musicianship skills along the way and have a lot of fun, too.

For our busy teens, we offer Hosanna, also directed by Mary Anne Bennek. This group convenes seasonally for the Advent & Christmas and Lent & Easter seasons.  Calling all teen singers and instrumentalists (who's the next American Idol?)!

Ms. Bennek also offers
Kindermusik classes in early music training for our very young children, from newborn through age seven. Contact her for details.

Please call the Music Office for further information, (651) 633-8333. Join us!
