MARATHON THANK YOU
Our sincerest thanks for your time and cooperation during our Marathon.  We don't know our dollar profit yet, but the good spirit of the people who helped and those who were with us at Central Park in Roseville, made it worth millions of dollars!
It is wonderful to see new and familiar faces all around, working for the benefit of our school.  Your time and work were a great contribution to the success of Marathon.     Special thanks to:
James & Lori Packer for chairing this year's Marathon
Ben Durand, Bill Lansing, Julie McFarlane and Larry Justin for organizing the parishioner contact and coordinating the many volunteers that helped with the phoning.
James & Lori Packer, Sheryl Szymanski and Stacey Meyer for their hours of accounting, awarding individual incentives and motivating students.
Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Hirsch, our teacher liaisons, for motivational ideas, assisting with school pepfests, and whatever help was needed.
Lori Packer, Stacey Meyer, Sheryl Szymanski, and Shellie Matthes for managing the distribution of raffle tickets and scribblers.
Shellie Lieser for serving as the liaison to the Roseville Knights of Columbus
Shellie Lieser and Andy Koski for setting up and staffing the St. John's pavilion.
Chris Beltman for organizing the food and beverages for St. John's participants and coordinating all the volunteers that helped with serving food at the Roseville Knights of        Columbus pavilion.

Sowers of Justice...

"Sowers of Justice" is an organization of the Archdiocese established by the Office of Social Justice.  It functions on two levels, (1) on the Archdiocesan level to serve as a resource to parishes, and (2) on the parish level, as an organization for education and advocacy regarding Catholic Church social teaching with regard to establishing Gospel Justice in our time and place.  The Sowers office provides support and information to assist parish groups in their endeavors.  There are currently 38 Sowers parishes in the archdiocese.  The goal is to have a group in each parish.  We intend to establish a viable "Sowers" group in our parish during the coming year.  We will meet on Monday, October 9, 7:00 p.m. in the parish center.  If you feel a need, or calling to work with others on this endeavor, please come.  If you have an interest in finding out more about it, call Deacon Joe Kenney, 651-633-8333.

When is the last time you took a leap of faith?  People did it all the time when Jesus said, "Follow Me."  Are you ready to follow, to take at least one step forward and experience a miracle at St. John's?  When was the last time we had a MIRACLE on 2nd Ave. N.W.???

From the American Bishops' Statement:
"Living the Gospel of Life"  Nov. 1998

"For citizens and elected officials alike, the basic principle is simple:  We must begin with a commitment never to intentionally kill, or collude in the killing, of any innocent human life, not matter how broken, unformed, disabled or desperate that life may seem--Direct abortion is never a morally tolerable option" (Sec. 21, Living the Gospel of Life, Nov. 1998)
