CONCERNING THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT
During the Lenten Season, the Church calls us to look deeply at our baptismal commitment whose chief focus is to live a life patterned on Jesus.  We focus our attention on the Cross of Christ, who is our model and example par excellence of living in the world.  The character of Lent retains a somber solemnity as the Catechumens prepare for and indeed those of us in full communion with the Church ready ourselves for the Paschal Mysteries of Eastertide.  It is through this rhythmic fast of forty days that we are able to reach the pinnacle of the Church Year, the Great Feast of Easter.  Therefore, in order that Easter may be experienced with great joy and festivity, we must experience the penitential character of Lent.  The organ and musical instruments remain silent, except to give support where needed.

LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS
A Lenten tradition at St. John the Baptist of fasting, prayer and almsgiving.  The Soup Supper is at 6:00pm in the School Cafeteria followed by Stations of the Cross at 7:00pm in the Church.

This Friday, March 10 our Soup Supper will be  hosted by the Social Justice Committee.  Your choice of soup will be vegetable or broccoli cheese.  A free will offering will be accepted with all donations going to charities in the community.  If you are unable to attend the soup suppers and would like to make a donation you can put it in an envelope marked Social Justice/Soup Supper and place it in the Sunday Collection.  Thank you!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Fridays during Lent at 7:00pm (following the soup supper) in the Church.

Effective Saturday, February 26:

The Parish offices have moved to the Rectory.  Please use the main entrance by the driveway of the Rectory (located on 1st Ave.)  to enter our interim   Parish Center.  Our mailing address and phone numbers will remain the same.  Thank you for your patience in this time of transition for our     parish and staff!
