GALA SILENT AUCTION

Fallfest Gala Committee invites all parishioners, friends of St. John's, and business owners to participate in our Themed Auction Basket fundraiser.
The Gala Dinner will again feature the silent auction, with which we had success last year, thanks to your participation.  If you would like to participate please think of a basket or item which you would like to represent your business or yourself, put it together and donate it to the Gala.  Some ideas are holiday, seasonal, foods, sports, hobbies, bath, the list is endless.  The baskets were so lovely last year, we are sure you will be as creative this year.  Baskets or items can be turned into the Parish Center after September 1.

COMMUNION MINISTERS SCHEDULE
Jay is putting together the schedule for June, July, &    August.  Please get your schedule changes in to Jay in the next week.

COMMUNION AND "INTINCTION"
Intinction is the practice of 'dipping' the consecrated host into the consecrated wine as a manner of receiving both the Body and Blood of our Lord.  The General Instruction of the Roman Missal and other successive documents are quite clear about how intinction is to happen.  The faithful are NOT to dip the host into the consecrated wine.  They are to receive the host on their hand from the minister of the Lord's Body, go to the cup minister, give the host to the cup minister who then dips the host into the consecrated wine and places it on the tongue of the communicant.  Why do this?  Several reasons:  1) reverence 2) hygiene.  We encourage everyone to receive both the Body and the Blood of Christ as a sign of full, conscious and active participation.  Our Lord said, "take and drink."  Taking the cup and sipping is the action that is preferred.  "Dipping" and drinking are not the same.  However, if one has a cold or another contagious malady, simply refrain from drinking from the cup during that time.  It is common sense.
