From the Pastor...
One good reason, one very good reason to support your parish:  We bring Jesus Christ to you!  And, we need Christ more than ever.
I've been struck by a recent survey on American morality.  It was done by the nonpartisan Council on Civil Society.  This Council has come to the same conclusion as 67% of Americans:  The United States is in a moral decline.  The following statement goes beyond liberal or conservative.  They write, "as our social morality deteriorates, life becomes harsher and less civil for everyone, social problems multiply and we lose the confidence that we as Americans are united by shared values."  That's our problem today -- fewer and fewer shared values.  What happens to a society when it loses its sense of being connected?
As Catholic Christians we have Jesus Christ who keeps us connected... "I am the vine, you are the branches."  We simply cannot forget that we are one in Christ.  We are reminded on Pentecost that Christ has given us the Spirit to help us and give us strength as a church.
The parish is here to bring the love of Jesus Christ to
all members:
  We are here to baptize...
We are here to educate children in Gospel living...
We are here to make Christ known to them...
We are here to share the values of Christ...
We are here to offer the great gift of forgiveness in Reconciliation...
We are here to bring Christ to you every Sunday in Word and Eucharist...
We are here to bring Christ to the sick and the dying...
We are here to bring them the Eucharist, food for the final journey to God...
We are here to prepare couples for marriage...
We are here to bless their union in the name of Christ...
We are here to bury loved ones and help you give them back to the Lord...
We are here to bring Christ's gentle love and peace to those ending a relationship...
We are here to bring Christ's love to the poor...
We are here to feed the hungry as Christ commanded us...
We are here to celebrate the Lord's Day in a manner that helps us live as believers...
We are here to offer a joy-filled education in the name of Christ...
We are here to prepare moral leaders for our society...
We are here to bring Christ's love to those who feel unloved...
We are here to bring Christ's healing to the hurting...
We are here to help each one in their search and help them be found by a loving God...
We are here to help people pray...
  We've been here 98 years...
We are preparing and planning for the future, believing that Christ wants us right here...
We invite you to share in the ministry of Christ...
We are here... and we need your help!
Peace,
    Fr. Bill
