From the Associate&
This week I asked two couples in the parish to write briefly about their experience of adopting children.  I admire their self-gift as parents, and how they have responded to God's call in their lives.  If you are reading this column, and know a couple who have been thinking about adoption and may benefit from the above testimonies, then please pass this copy on to them.  Thanks.

WHEN MAKING BABIES IS NOT AS EASY AS
MAKING LOVE
When two people enter into the sacrament of marriage they begin a journey together and ask God to protect and be with them along the way.  The journey is filled with events, situations, joy and sorrow.  For some a sorrowful situation may be infertility.  Nevertheless, our crisis may be our greatest opportunity.  It is possible that God is calling us to a new adventure.  Maybe we should consider adoption.  God may be calling us to answer the prayers of these children.  Adopted children are as much a gift as birth children.  The journey of life with adopted children is not unlike life with any child.  There are joys and challenges and laughter.  Having a loving parent is what is important to a child!

ADOPTION IS A GREAT BLESSING GIVEN BY GOD
This year our two adopted boys graduated from Totino Grace High School.  They were given to us, by God, through adoption from the Thailand Department of Public Welfare and the Paakred Home for Crippled Children.  We adopted them each as special needs children when the first was 11 and the second was 3 years later at 14.  Had we not adopted them, they would have been turned out on the Bangkok streets at 16 years of age.  We are so pleased with how they have developed, what we were able to do for them, and the blessings they have brought us.  Throughout the world similar needs and opportunities are available.  We hope that other families can be blessed as much as we have been.

Music Notes&
REGARDING SUMMER MUSIC FOR MASS
Our resident Jazz combo, "Wild Honey and the Locusts," is back in session, and will be appearing often at the 11:00 summer masses, interspersed with appearances of our Electric Ensemble and our acoustic Folk Ensemble.  The jazz combo will also play for some 4:30 masses in July and August. The 8:00 mass will remain relatively "quiet" and traditional, with the 9:30 having more of a "high mass" feel, both masses with cantor and organ.  A vocal "schola" (small ensemble) will appear occasionally at the 9:30.
You may also notice we are singing more "old favorites" during the summer months.
