Bible Study&
Come On Down!  St. John's is beginning a small group Bible Study this fall on Monday evenings.  It consists of daily personal study, weekly discussion & faith sharing in small groups.
We are all praying and depending on God's presence with us in coordinating this wonderful opportunity for our parish.  The Bible can give us understanding, hope, confidence, comfort & challenge.  The same Holy Spirit that has guided the church through the ages works in our lives as we read the inspired Scriptures.  What a gift!
Question #1  Are you comfortable with a variety of people?
Question #2  Are you looking for ways to deepen your faith?
Question #3 Do you have a knack for bringing out the best in people?
Did you say YES to the above questions?  Is that your final answer?  You are on your way to becoming a millionaire!  Not in the economic sense, but in the million blessings you receive when you spend time with other's in God's name.  And& because you would be a terrific small group facilitator.  Would you consider this opportunity?  There will be a 4 session facilitator training to give you the information you need.  Training begins September 11, the Bible Study begins October 9.
What should you do next?  1) Consider participating in our small group Bible Study  2) Prayerfully consider being a small group facilitator 3)  Attend the training session to better determine if you are able to take on a facilitator role or be involved in another way.
So become a millionaire (spiritually) and sign up for the fall Bible Study by registering in the narthex or by calling Darlene Tucker @ 651-786-2754 or Joanne Smith 651-636-7736.

Can't carry a tune?
BE A NAME DROPPER!
Give us the name of someone you think belongs in our choir.  Maybe this person sits behind you in church, or maybe it's someone from work who does not even attend here!  (This could be an evangelizing opportunity for us as well!)  Contact Cheri Sykes at the parish center.  Thanks for your help!

As we ready ourselves for another
football season, we would like to share these messages recently received:

"Let's meet at my house Sunday before the game."
    -- God

"Don't make me come down there."
    -- God

"I Still Smell the Roses"

"People say the soul is nothing but the effect of our bodily powers at work.  If that were true, then why is my soul becoming brighter as my body begins to fail?  Winter may be filling my head, but an eternal spring rises from my heart.  At this late hour of my life, I smell the fragrance of lilacs, violets, and roses, just as I didn't when I was twenty.
And the closer I come to the end of my journey, the more clearly I hear the immortal symphonies of eternal worlds inviting me to come.  It is awe-inspiring yet profoundly simple." Victor Hugo

Are You or Someone You Know Interested In Joining the Catholic Faith?
These are the months during which we try to extend a special invitation to people who we might know who would be interested in being Baptized as a adult, receive Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, renew and update themselves in understanding the Catholic Faith or join the Catholic Faith from another faith tradition.  If you know someone who is interested please invite them to give me a call or if you are interested call.  The group is getting formed for a new year.  RCIA which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is one of the most powerful experiences of God with a community of people growing, praying, encouraging, supporting and celebrating faith that you will ever have!  We always need sponsors too.  Call Mary Ann Zervas @ 651-633-1540.
