COMMUNITY-WIDE INITIATIVE FOR VIOLENCE FREE FAMILIES An excellent new videotape, NOBODY HOME, has been produced on the important topic of violence as something which affects all of our lives. It will be broadcast on KTCI, Channel 17, on September 20, 2000 at 7:00pm. This is an opportunity for parish members to view and discuss the issues around violence in a group and develop an action plan that will sustain the activities and dialogue that promote peaceful relationships. Archbishop Harry Flynn encourages us to take advantage of these opportunities to end violence and advance a civilization of love.

YOUTH MINISTRY SNAPSHOT Divorce tougher on boys Divorce more than doubles the risk for adjustment problems in children--and even if the post-divorce situation is ideal, boys are most likely to get depressed, according to a 10-year study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. Pre-divorce conflict is tougher on boys, the study says, perhaps because Dad leaving the home is more stressful for boys than girls. On the other hand, post-divorce conflict increases girls' risks of behavioral problems, such as acting out. (USA Today, Feb. 7)
