BEFRIENDER COMMISSIONING
 Three new befriender candidates:  Greg Kapala, Pat Brooke & Barbara Cant will be commissioned this coming Sunday, February 4 at the 9:30 a.m. Mass.  Please pray in Thanksgiving for all who serve in this ministry of befriender.

PRAYER ON TAPE
Now available on tape, "A Book of Catholic Prayers".  These cassette tapes were recorded and donated by parishioner, Dan Kuechenmeister.  If you know someone who could use this aid for prayer, please call Anne Marie at 651-633-8333 to get a tape.

Faith Formation‬
SEEKERS:  ADULT THEOLOGICAL BOOK CLUB
Explore your faith, expand your vision.  Read:  The Twelve, The Lives of the Apostles After Calvary , by  C. Bernard Ruffin, Our Sunday Visitor Press, and join us at our next meeting.  It will be Thursday, February 8, 7:00--8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.  Questions?  Call Mary Ann Zervas at 651-633-1540.  You may call Dorothy Kunze at 651-633-1205 about books, she has some left at $8.05 ea. Circle of Women‬
Sr. Joyce Miller , FSPC, a Franciscan Sister from La Crosse Wisconsin, will speak on Thursday, February 1, 2001.  She has been a teacher for 35+ years in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Presently, Sr. Joyce is a speaker/consultant in areas of religious education for schools and parishes and also works for Harcourt Religious Publishers.  She will speak on the topic, "Who are the Angels in Your Life?" Circle of Women invites ALL women of ALL ages to join from 9:15--11:25 a.m. in the parish center, lower level. Childcare is available during the Circle of Women, register your child by  calling our Children's Program  Coordinator, Kari Gill @763-785-6947.

SING IN THE NEW YEAR KIDS!

Winter blahs got ya down?  Is school a drag?  Does it make you want to scream?  Well, come and SING instead!  The St. John's Children's Choir (The Little Praise Machine) is looking for new voices in grades 3-6!  We don't care if you can't carry a tune in a bucket....just come and have some fun!
We meet 5:45-6:30 every Wednesday in the church.  We sing at mass about once a month and will be joining the adult choir in February for a big gig!  Come try us on for size!  No commitment required!  Questions?  Call Monica Healy at 651-636-3699.

ADULT CHOIR
Been thinking about joining our choir?  Now's the perfect time as we begin the second half of our year.  We gained twelve valuable new singers with our recruiting campaign last fall; we could use about twelve more to give us the "big choir" sound we want.  Come and be a part of the music!

Quilters' Corner‬

ST. JOHN'S CENTENNIAL
 Plans are beginning for the construction of a Centennial Quilt to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton.    Experienced quilters are needed and will be solicited for this project.  If you are able to construct an accurate quilt block, can work cooperatively with a group, and are  interested in this project we want to talk with you.  Call Margaret (763) 784-5094 or leave your name and phone number at the Parish Center.  All fabric will be furnished.
