Liturgy News&
PALM RETURN Please return your palms from last Palm Sunday in preparation for Ash Wednesday. Palms may be left at the Information Desk up until Noon on Tuesday, February 27. Thanks.
PROGRESS IS OFTEN PAINFUL! Soon after Easter the pews located in the rear of the baptistry will be removed in order to make way for the new doors into the church. At the same time the pews from the present chapel also need to go. Both sets of pews will be completely refinished for use in the new daily mass chapel. Work is scheduled to be completed early this fall. For the comfort and convenience of people who have used those rear pews for so long and to accommodate those in wheelchairs, walkers or otherwise needing assistance on the ramps, the three rearmost pews on either side of the center aisle will be designated for their use. In addition to the area near the lower sacristy (where the organ used to be) will be reserved for wheelchairs and those who prefer not to stand on an incline. The pastoral and liturgical staff deeply regrets any sorrow or inconvenience this may cause for the people who have used this area for so long.
LENTEN FRIDAYS STATIONS OF THE CROSS & BENEDICTION This year the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed as Stations begin and following Stations there will be benediction. Once again, we encourage all present to walk the Way of the Cross with the ministers. We will highlight each Station with a person bearing a candle. All are invited to join us for soup supper in the school cafeteria beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Way of the Cross at 7:00 p.m.

NEW GOSPEL BOOK ON THE WAY The Book of Gospels is deserving of high veneration, as evidenced by the special place it occupies in the liturgy. "So clearly is the Book of the Gospels a sign of Christ present in the liturgy, that it is revered with the same holy kiss given to the altar." With the revised Sacramentary soon to be published, it states that the Lectionary is never to be carried in the procession, but rather the Book of the Gospels is to be carried in the procession in, but not out. This new book will have over 200 illustrations, most in color. The cover illustration was selected for the Book of Kells, one of the first collections of the Gospels that was printed separately from the other readings in the Middle Ages.
