Social Justice& THANK YOU
Our March food drive at St. John's collected 8003 pounds of food and $340.00 for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. Thank you for your generosity!
2,861 PAIRS OF SOCKS! (No, we're not talking about Fr. Michael's Easter Basket)
We started out at the beginning of Lent to collect socks for the homeless. We were overwhelmed the first few weeks by the generosity of St. John's Parishioners--676 pair the first week, 540 the second. This had already far exceeded our expectations. From experience we figured we'd get the largest quantities in the beginning. Instead, on the last weekend, Palm Sunday, we collected 813 pair! Our total in four weeks was 2,861 pairs of socks! They were delivered to the Simpson House and St. Stephen's Homeless Shelter. At St. Stephen's we came in the nick of time because they were all out of socks. Thanks to Father Bill for all of his support with this project and to all of you who donated socks, you have truly lived the gospel - "Whatever you did for these the least of my brethren you did for me". God Bless!
