HOLY THURSDAY FOOT WASHING: Eighteen parishioners this year represented Saint John's for service to the community at large. By having their feet washed by the priests, they not only modeled what Jesus did for his apostles at the Last Supper, but they in turn show by example that the way to the Kingdom is by such humble service to others. A special thank you to the following people for their Christ-like witness in our community: Kelly Mendel, Bill Jechorek, Cheri Sykes, Mike Scheierl, Mary Swenson, Marilyn Tucci, Jake Mickelson, Dan Kelly, Ralph Arnott, Barb Gregerson, Katie Pastorius, Kathy Belian, Rick Eaton, Katie Eaton, Paul Shea, Patty Horton, Judy Quayle & Mary Anne Kaiser.
REMOVAL OF PEWS BEHIND THE BAPTISMAL FONT As you may remember, the pews in these two locations are being rebuilt and refurbished for the new chapel and adoration chapel. The chapel is now closed for seating, as there is no place to sit. Those people with special needs for seating will now have the first three pews immediately in front of the Baptismal Font and the first five pews adjacent to the pulpit (ambo) east of the Sanctuary. These pews will be marked as such, and so we ask that unless you need to sit in these reserved pews, please sit elsewhere. Change can be difficult, but we thank you in advance for your cooperation and we are confident that this change in seating behind the Font will harmonize with the new Ceremonial Entrance into the Saint John Centre.
HOLY WEEK THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING: This year the volunteers are just too numerous to list by name, but the Office of Worship would like to thank the following for making the Liturgies of Holy Week simply outstanding! Thank you clergy, maintenance staff, office staff, greeters and ushers, palm wavers and weavers all, ceremony crew, environment committee, pedestal painters, food preparation, banner makers, pew cleaners, west entrance sweeper, flower bearers, Easter decorators, Easter water fillers, Jelly Bean bagers, singers all, handbell ringers, pews sitters whose magnificent spoken and sung responses prove the value of good liturgy, and Easter flower donors. To everyone, a blessed Easter Season from now until the Holy Spirit fills you with all good gifts this Pentecost.
EASTER WATER BOTTLES! A very special thank you to Joe Wirth for his very generous donation of 1200 water bottles. All the bottles are now in the homes of parishioners and in their names, we thank you Joe. And yes, we will ask everyone to return their bottles next year so that they may be refilled for the next Easter Vigil!
DIVINE MERCY PICTURE A parishioner has donated a picture of the Divine Mercy to Saint John's for use in the new Pastoral Centre. The picture was blest this past Sunday, Divine Mercy Sunday, and will be temporarily displayed on the east aisle wall in the church. Many thanks to this anonymous generous friend!!!
