Prayer Vigil&
VIGIL/ADORATION COMMITTEE TO MEET
St. John's Prayer Vigil-Adoration Committee will meet Wednesday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the parish center.  Come and give your input as we make plans for  Perpetual Adoration in our new chapel!

Parish Council&
On Thursday, April 5, the Parish Pastoral Council of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Community decided to support non-Sunday liturgies for Scout celebrations.  The council also endorsed action to initiate Perpetual Adoration in 2002.
At the May 3, 2001 meeting several resolutions were passed.  A motion was made and seconded to adopt a theme for the St. John's Centennial Celebration suggested by the Faith Formation Board:  "St. John's--A Welcoming Community."  The revised by-laws for the Parish Council were accepted.  The Respect Life Committee has been approved for the "Baby Bush" project in August.
The rough draft of the policy manual for the new St. John Centre was presented to the council by Jay Hunstiger.  Further discussion will continue on this topic at the June council meeting.
The council needs SIX new members for next fall.  Anyone interested can call Fr. Bill or contact one of the present council members.

To Sip or Dip?

Christians who dip their bread in the common Communion cup for fear of diseases are far more likely to get the common cold than those who sip.  In addition, they are more likely to infect others with whatever bacteria the dippers may be carrying on their fingertips.  All this is from Dr. David Gould, who was asked by the Anglican Church of Canada to conduct a study on eucharistic practice and the risk of infection.  The study did not address whether sippers or dippers were more likely to lay down their lives for their friends.
