From the Pastor&
     " God made people because God loves stories.
    -- Talmudic Saying
     "   How we spend our days is--of course--how we spend our lives.
    -- Annie Dillard
     "   It's more difficult to spend a day well than to write a book.
    -- Ancient Polish adage

    It's June already!  How are you living in 2001?  I didn't ask how you are doing--I think most of us try to do too much.  Barry Baker, president and chief operating officer of USA Networks, reflected on his past this way:  "I wasn't a human being.  I was a human doing."  What does it take to turn many of us back into human beings?  I think we "do" ok for the most part.
     Invite some friends to your home this summer just to celebrate life.  Before they can eat the delicious food you made, and maybe grew yourself, ask each person to answer questions for their supper.  Here are example questions from a self-esteem resource:
     1) What is one of the funniest things that happened to you this past year?
     2) What is one of the most frightening things that happened to you this past year, and how did you overcome your fear?
     3) To whom did you get closer during the last year?  Or to whom did you want to get closer?
     4) What is one of the most important lessons you learned this past year?
     5) What is one of the biggest risks you took this past year?
     6) What goal would you most like to achieve this coming year?
     7) Where would you like to travel this coming year?
     8) If you could go back and live one day over again from the past year, which day would it be and why?
     9) What hobby would you like to take up this year?
   10) If you could learn from any teacher in the world, past or present, whom would you study with this coming year?
     Maybe these questions could be discussed with your best friend.  They would also be good questions to ask someone celebrating a birthday.
     What is the Holy Spirit calling you to do with your life?  Next Sunday is Feast of Pentecost, the feast of the Spirit.  Why not prepare for this great day by praying the following three times a day (morning, noon, evening):

Come and pray in me, Holy Spirit;
Come and pray in me, Holy Spirit;
Come and pray in me, Holy Spirit.

    Fr. Bill

Next Sunday is
Pentecost--Please wear RED to Mass.
