Parish Pastoral Council&
On June 7, 2001, the Parish Pastoral Council of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church decided to attend a September leadership training session.  In order to initiate a more welcome atmosphere, hospitality is being offered at all the weekend Masses at the back of church.  This hospitality will continue in the new St. John Pastoral Center this fall.  Some issues concerning the policy and procedure guidelines for the new St. John Pastoral Center are still being considered and will be revisited at the September meeting.   The council supported a resolution to all the Hinnenkamp family to run a book fair on one Sunday with all the proceeds going to the Jonathan Heart Fund.  More details will be published about this event as soon as a date has been set. A motion was made and seconded that the Respect Life Committee request for their annual events be granted.  The events are as follows:
Respect Life Sunday/Pennies for Life--Jan. 19/20, 2002
Mother's Day Corsage Sale--May 11/12, 2002
Baby Bush--August 3/4, 2002
The June meeting of the council was the final one for 2000-2001.  New council member orientation meeting in August.  The next official meeting will be in September.  Thank you to all parishioners who submitted requests and issues for us to consider.  We appreciate your input, care and concern for the welfare of our parish.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING
Professional Psychological Counseling is available to the adults of St. John's, without cost.  Hours are day time on Tuesdays. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment.

Monthly Prayer Vigil&
Come and enrich your personal relationship with Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist in the chapel during our monthly adoration from 9:00 a.m.--9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, in the Chapel.  Adore Him, thank Him, bring your cares and concerns to Him, and experience His love, comfort and peace.  The southwest door of the church will be open during the hours of the vigil.

Music Notes&
You may have noticed that we have changed our closing hymn to more closely follow the communion rite, so it feels more like a post-communion Hymn of Praise.  Our hope is that the hymn will feel more like a joyful response to the sharing of the Eucharist.  Hasn't it seemed a bit out of sync to declare "The Mass is Ended" only to stay for a final hymn?  This way, you can also enjoy a bit of the   instrumental postlude as well, before you leave.

The Book of Exodus, tells of Moses' birth, life and the history of the chosen people and their unique relationship with God.  We are the benefactors of this marvelous relationship. Join us this fall as we explore the lives of the Israelites as they enter into a covenant relationship with the Lord.
