Music Notes&
We are happy to announce that Mary Anne Bennek is now the director of both The Hallelujah Chorus, our children's choir, and continuing director of Hossanna, our teen choir.  Mary Anne will also direct music for the Wednesday school masses.  Mrs. Bennek has tons of energy and great ideas for these two choirs.  Welcome Mary Anne!

We also welcome Jody Peterson as the accompanist for our adult choir!  Jody, a frequent attendee of St. John's, studied piano at the College of St. Benedict while earning a degree in English.  We're thankful to have her.  Welcome Jody!

This week we are introducing two new hymns.  First, "Immortal, Invisible" (red worship #512) is a classic of Welsh origin.  Then our contemporary masses are introducing, "Lord, When You Came to the  Seashore," (blue gather #500) a widely know, delightful Hispanic hymn which tells of Jesus' call to Peter and Andrew to become fishers of people.

HOSANNA the 7-12th grade choir/ensemble is  beginning another exciting year!  All students who enjoy music are welcome and encouraged to join.  Talk to your friends and give it a try! For more information call Mary Anne Bennek at 651-639-1136.

THE ALL NEW "HALLELUJAH" CHORUS
Open to all 3-6th graders of the parish.  Our goal is to PRAISE GOD with BEAUTIFUL sounds, learn music within the liturgy, and of course, to have fun! For more information call Mary Anne Bennek at 651-639-1136.

Make it a strike! Marathon 2001
The Marathon is a major fundraiser for St. John the Baptist School.  St. John's students and staff have been working hard collecting donations for the Marathon.
EVERYONE'S HELP - students, parents, staff, parishioners, family, friends - and financial support is needed to ensure the success of this event.  Our goal is to raise $45,000 to help finance the painting project, new flagpole, relicensing computer lab software, renovating the gym entrance and a donation for the disaster relief.
School parent volunteers will be conducting a phonathon on Sunday evening, September 30, in an effort to reach out to parishioners who may not have been previously contacted by a student or staff member.
This year's Marathon will be Sunday, October 6, at Central Park in Roseville.  Participants will walk, run or bike around Bennett Lake in celebration of our efforts!
If you have any questions regarding the marathon, please contact Sr. Gwendolin at 651-633-1522.
