SINGERS AND INSTRUMENTALISTS wanted/needed for our Acoustic Folk Group, Earthen Vessels .  Busy young parents, we may suit your schedule!  We sing twice monthly for the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass (two rehearsals a month).  Contact Cheri Sykes at 651-633-8333 for an appointment.

HOSANNA the 7-12th grade choir/ensemble is getting ready for another exciting year!  Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 23 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. in church.  We need LOTS more people to join this group to continue the great things we started last year.  All students who enjoy music are welcome and encouraged to join.  Talk to your friends and give it a try!

THE ALL NEW "HALLELUJAH" CHORUS
Open to all 3-6th graders of the parish.  We have 75 openings and no auditions (!)  Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 23 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in church.  It's a new time - but for families who do the 11:30 Mass, it'll make for an easy drop-off/pick-up time.  Our goal is to PRAISE GOD with BEAUTIFUL sounds, learn musicality within the liturgy, and of course, to have fun!

Each group will be singing/playing at approximately one Mass each month, as well as at special times of the year. (Christmas, Easter, etc& )

Flyers & schedules will be handed out in September to all youth groups, Faith Formation students and students of St. John's School.

Give your children the chance to learn a great deal, make new friends, AND participate with their talents and gifts.  If they have an affinity and love for music, please encourage them!

From the Associate&

Young Married Couples Society

It is very exciting to announce the formation of the Young Married Couples Society of St. John's (YMCS).  The goal of this group is to build strong Christian marriages through social, compassionate and spiritual activities. Through   interaction with other couples we are growing a community of faith and understanding.
Several social activities are being planned to allow group members to relax and escape from the tensions of day-to-day life, and including such activities as bowling, movie night, book club, co-ed community sports, etc.
While it is very fulfilling to spend time and energy building a home and family, we also aspire to perform acts of charity and community service.  YMCS of St. John's is actively pursuing involvement in the local Habitat for   Humanity project.  We also plan to visit local nursing homes and hospitals, visiting those who appreciate a    smiling face and companionship.
Equally important to the mission of YMCS is to increase spiritual fulfillment among our couples.  It is through a strong foundation of love and faith in the Lord that couples become one with each other.  Each monthly    meeting we have a short lesson in catechism including    insight from our members as well as Fr. Michael, our   chaplain.  We plan on leading vespers for the entire St. John's community during Advent.
The Young Married Couples Society has much to offer the church, community and each other.  We meet the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in joining St. John's Young Married Couples Society, please contact Jim and Eileen at 651-451-7878 or Jacquie and Steve at 651-481-1384.
