Circle of Women will not meet again until after the Holiday Season. Join us again on Thursday January 9th, 2003 from 9:15-11:30 am. Our Speaker will be the financial educator Ruth Hayden, her talk will bring us "The Status of Women and Money: Strategies for Change." Watch for our retreat brochure in the January 5 bulletin.
Adoration Notes& Gratitude for healthy babies, successful surgeries, jobs found, recovery from depression, return to the Faith of loved ones and peaceful acceptance of God's will are among the blessings recorded in the Adoration Chapel book. Adam Quade Wins 3rd Place in National Discovery Channel Science Challenge Adam Quade was named the third place winner in the Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge National Competition (DCYSC) recently in Washington, D.C. The DCYSC honors students on the basis of their scientific abilities as well as their oral and written communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. Adam won for his individual science research project titled "Effect of Topical Fluoride Treatments on the In-Vitro Erosion of Enamel by Sweetened Beverages " during a week of intense science competition held in October at the Smithsonian Institute in the National Museum of Natural History. Adam's team was also named the "Top Team" during the competition and was presented with the Discovery Channel "Enthusiasm for Discovery" award. For his efforts, Adam was award a gold medal, a trophy, a $3,750 scholarship and a hometown visit by Steve Jacobs, Mr. Wizard, from the Discovery Channel. Mr. Wizard presented an hour long science show at St. John's on December 5 for the 5th through 8th grade students. A recap of the entire science competition week in Washington, D.C. will be aired on the Discovery Channel on Saturday, December 28 at 8:00 a.m. central time during a one hour show. Be sure to tune in. Adam won for his research completed at St. John's last year; he is now a freshman at Totino-Grace High School. Congratulations, Adam we are very proud of you!
