ARCHDIOCESAN SENIOR RECOGNITION EVENT
Each year Catholic Charities--Division of Aging sponsors a Senior Recognition Mass and Celebration with the Archbishop as the guest celebrant.  This year the event will be held Wednesday, May 15 at Transfiguration Church in Oakdale.  The event begins with Mass at 10:30 followed by lunch and entertainment.  We will have a bus available to go as a group.  The bus will leave St. John's at 9:45 a.m. and will return approximately 2:30 p.m.  The cost of the event (including motor coach transportation) is $20.00.  If you wish to travel to the event independently, the cost for the lunch and program is $13.  Please stop in the parish office to make your reservation. Registration and payment must be received by May 8.

SILVERTONES
There will be NO Silvertones meeting or lunch in May due to our participation in the Archdiocesan Mass & Celebration for Seniors (see above).

CIRCLE OF WOMEN
The Circle of Women invites ALL women of ALL ages to join us this Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 9:15am in the Pastoral Center Upper Level. Cheryl Eliason will present, "Come Bloom Where You Are Planted." Childcare is  provided by Kari Gill (please pre-register your child by calling 763-785-6947).

PLANNING A WEDDING AT ST. JOHN'S?
Couples planning a wedding at St. John's are invited to attend the next wedding workshop on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00--10:30 a.m. in the Pastoral Center.  Couples are required to attend a workshop (offered four times a year) to help them plan their liturgy.  Topics covered include choosing readings, music and musicians, environment, as well as time for your questions and a chance to talk to our wedding coordinators.  Please call the parish office to  register, 651-633-8333.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING
Psychological counseling for adults will once again be available for adults of the parish.  It is generally intended for those who feel that they cannot afford private counseling.  There is no fee.  Dr. Tom Scheller will be  available on Tuesdays.  For questions, or to make a        confidential appointment, call Teri at the parish office,   651-633-8333.

ST. JOHN'S COUPLES BRIDGE MIXER
St. John's Couples Bridge year-end mixer
Friday, May 3, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in the Pastoral Center.  $3/couple (non-members).  Call Jan & Ken McCauley by April 30 to RSVP, 651-783-1435.



OPEN DOORS (divorced/widowed/singles group) meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the St. Martin de Porres Room for socializing and snacks.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
May 1 - First date for the newly formed Weekly Walking Club!  Group will walk every Wednesday (weather permitting) from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  Meet at the boat launch area at Long Lake Regional Park (Take 694 to Long Lake Road & go north - take a right at Beach Road and follow signs to boat launch/lake access).  Call Barb at 763-784-6399 with any questions. 


May 23 - First date for the new "Restaurant of the Month Club!"  Meet at 6:30 p.m. at Lido's restaurant (Italian cuisine) at 2801 N. Snelling Ave. in Roseville.  Please RSVP by May 18 to Deb at 651-639-8210. 

June 8 - Twins fan? Even if you're not, come anyway! Twins vs. Florida Marlins -- game time is 6:05 p.m.   Meet at 4:00 p.m. at Grandma's (1810 Washington Ave S MPLS MN) for an early dinner.  Reservations under "Open Doors."  Cost of ticket is $10.  Money must be dropped off or mailed to St. John's Church, Attention:  Open Doors/Twins Game by May 10.

Liturgy News&
SERVER TRAINING
Server training for new servers will take place June 10--14 from 9:30 a.m.--noon.  Class size is limited to 16--sign up early!  Students who are entering Grade six and older are welcome to become servers.  Register by calling Teri in the parish office, 651-633-8333.
