September 3 is the first day of school for the students at St. John's with classes beginning at 9:20 A.M. and school dismissing at 4:00 P.M. Student s should be in their rooms by 9:15 A.M.

Last year's celebration of the 50 years of quality education as offered by the faculty and staff was rewarding for all of us--parents, teachers and staff, and students.  We received a solid report from the MNSAA and numerous awards received by classes and  teachers.  The school enjoyed terrific support from the parents, families, parish and community.


Little Light Preschool

Faith Formation&

RCIA:  RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION (ADULTS)

  • For those who were never baptized
  • For those baptized in another Christian tradition but now seek reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church
  • For those who want to know more about your Catholic Faith.
  • If you are interested in joining the RCIA team,  we welcome you.

    CIC:  CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN
    (GRADES 1-8)
    This program is for students who are unbaptized or who have not prepared for or received the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.  The preparation period is from September-April.   In addition to weekly lessons, the students participate in Rites on Sundays which celebrate the stages of their initiation.  Parents are required to attend some meetings during the year.  The students receive their sacraments during the Easter season.
    Registration:  Same as registration for grades 1-8.

Music News&

HEAR YE!  HEAR YE!   Adult choir will resume THIS WEEK, the  Wednesday after Labor Day, September 4, 7:15pm.  Every year we grow in musicianship and community.   Maybe this is your year to join us.  Please don't let the commitment scare you.  We can be flexible, accommodating your busy schedule.  You can choose to sing/rehearse with us on a half-time basis, or join us seasonally.  Also, childcare is available (with notice).  This is a joyful and exciting ministry offering many opportunities for growth--COME BE A PART! 

Liturgy News&

A special thank you to our weekend sacristans who have both left for college. Thanks to Kathy Belian and Katie Pastorius for their good work these last two years. We also want to welcome their replacements, Paul Shea, George Weinberger and Colleen Belian. Please help make their ministry easier when they ask you to take up the Gifts of Bread and Wine to the Altar, just say 'yes'. They will be easily recognizable, as they will be vested in dark blue albs, a sign of their ministerial function and weekend staff position.
Youth Newz&

TEEN TURF at St. John's Fall Festival, September 20-23. Volunteers are needed to help run the games and activities.Volunteers need not be peer ministers. This is a "fun" way to earn service hours!  Please call Kate Roush to sign up 763-754-7666.
PEER MINISTRY CORE TRAINING IIB, September 15, from 12:00-4:30pm. For 10th-12th Graders interested in further youth ministry training. See your August issue of The Newzpaper for further details or contact Kate Roush at 763-754-7666.
CONFIRMATION ORIENTATION will be held Sunday,  September 15th from 7:15-8:00pm in the Church( instead of  St. Joseph's Hall as originally scheduled).  Attendance is mandatory for all those registered for the Confirmation program.  Confirmation candidates should attend with a parent.  Pre-registration is required.  Register through the parish faith formation office 651-633-1540.
