ST. JOHN'S TALKING
During November and early December of this year, more than 100 parishioners gathered in small groups for two meetings. The meetings took place in parishioners' homes or at the Parish Center. In the first meeting, participants shared stories of how God was acting in their lives through their parish experience. In the second meeting, participants discussed issues that affect them and their families and what actions we might take to address those issues.

Members of Saint John's Social Justice Committee are currently compiling the notes from those meetings. That effort will be completed after the Christmas and New Year Holiday Season. Watch for further news on our progress.

Thanks to all leaders and hosts of the meetings, and  thanks to everyone who participated!

ANGEL TREE UPDATE  & THANK YOU!!!

Perpetual Adoration

NOTE: The Cenacle will be closed on New Year's Eve from 4 PM Wednesday, December 31, until 12:00 Noon on Thursday, January 1.  The Parish Center will be on holiday hours, so day adorers should use the North Entrance to the Cenacle when St. Paul Plaza is locked.

Need a refreshing break during this hectic holiday season?  Stop in for a few minutes and say "Hi!" to the LORD.  Our new born Savior is waiting in the Cenacle.

Two adorers are needed for Sunday 7 - 8 PM and Thursday 10 - 11 AM; no one is signed up for these hours.

Prayer partners are also needed for the following hours:
Tuesday, Midnight - 1 AM; Tuesday, 3AM - 4 AM; and Saturday, 12:00 Noon - 1PM.

Please call Dorothy at (651) 636-1660 or Jerry at (651) 636-2054 to schedule your hour or for additional information.

Holy Rosary, Blessed Kateri, and Ralph Reeder Food Shelf expressed their gratitude and joy when they received the large amount of gifts collected from the Angel Tree project.

Many needed families will have a more special Christmas because of the generosity of the parishioners of St. John's. You can be sure you are in their prayers of thanksgiving.

Thank you also to all adults and teens who helped at weekend Masses, and the crew who delivered the gifts to Ralph Reeder on Monday mornings.  Many hands make light work!

Angel Tree Coordinator

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION #1:  What does our Church really teach about social justice? While we are all in the mood for making New Year's resolutions, why not resolve to take advantage of the speaker series being offered by Adult Faith Formation and the Social Justice Committee on five Wednesdays in March during Lent 2004? This speaker series will be St. John's main focus for Lent, so please mark your calendars NOW.

We'll meet from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (perfect for parents bringing children to CCD!), hear a local and well known speaker on social justice, share pizza or a bag lunch, and participate in a lively discussion of current issues. A free will offering will be taken.

Watch for more information in future bulletins and in our monthly newsletter, The Forerunner. If you have any questions or comments, please call Margaret Nelson at (763) 784-5094. We look forward to seeing you there!
