Capital Campaign I
December 31, 2002 marked the end of our first Capital Campaign.  Our first campaign raised $4,621,039.00.  Thank you for your support and generosity in raising this money for the construction of the new St. John Pastoral Center!
Beginning January 5, 2003 all money reported in the  bulletin for the capital campaign collection will be for
Building on Blessings our second campaign to help  with debt reduction.  At this time, we have $2,000,000 pledged over the next three years to help with debt reduction.  If you have not turned in your pledge card you can do so by placing it in the Sunday collection or dropping it off at the parish office.
In December, the parish wrote a check for $300,000 to Premier Bank to pay down the principal on our mortgage of $5,000,000.  According to our agreement we have with the bank, we can do this once a year and the bank will re-amortize our monthly payment.  By paying down the principal, we will save over $20,000 this year in interest costs.
The St. John's Pastoral Council and Finance Committee have adopted an emergency policy that the building fund will have enough money in the account to make six months of mortgage payments.  The $300,000 was the balance in the building fund after taking that into consideration. In addition, money raised from this year's Fall Festival was included in the $300,000.
The construction of the new building and all of the other wonderful things that are happening at St. John's would not have happened without your support and generosity.  Thank you!  You should receive your 2002 contribution statement the week of January 27th.  Please review it       carefully.  If you have any questions regarding your statement, please contact the office as soon as possible.
