Good News Travels…
ST. LUCIA:
A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY WITH BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE.

As members of the Good News group, we were privileged to spend two weeks in St. Lucia with people from many walks of life. In addition to building houses, the Good News members also serve in the community in a number of other ways. We sang (and danced!) with the elderly in the nursing homes; made crafts with children in school, girls in a home for the abused and in prison, and with boys in a   detention center. We also visited the poor with the Missionary of Charity Sisters and helped with their Soup Kitchen. It was a time of learning, a time of sharing, a time for working, sometimes a time of weariness, but also a time of fun and relaxation!
There were many wonderful memories, but one that stands out was their overwhelming love of the Lord. We saw it every day - no matter life's circumstances.  It was evident in conversations, in how they dressed in their "Sunday Best" for church, in the "Jesus" songs sung at the public school, and in prayer. They had a joy in their heart that was contagious.
It was a rewarding time and one we'll always cherish. As the Good News founder said when we arrived, "We aren't here to preach God's word but to show His love by our    actions." Hopefully, in some small way we were able to bring God's love and joy to those in need and bridge the gap between our worlds. They definitely touched our lives!
