Jaguar Newsflash

EACH YEAR our St. John's students are given an opportunity to buy presents for family members through a PTO sponsored event - Santa's Secret Shop. Parent volunteers purchase inexpensive items over the year for the children.  The younger students then pair up with their prayer partners to wrap the gifts. Thanks to Gina Wesen-Kahn for doing this for us; we appreciate the time and effort she puts in to be our school's "Mrs. Santa Claus." On Tuesday & Wednesday, November 30/December 1, Santa's Secret Shop will be open in the Senior's Lounge in the Parish Center.  Thank you to all who are helping with this event.

ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7, St. John's is working a table at HarMar Mall from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. for Families Moving Forward (FMF). They will be asking shoppers to purchase a gift for one of the family members currently in the program. If you can work an hour or two on this day, please call Anne Marie at (651) 633-8333, ext. 1237. Your job will be to give out the gift requests and then collect the gift items. The staff at FMF will start and end the day with us.  Please consider this one-time ministry!

ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, we will have our annual Anointing Mass at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Please come and  bring a friend or family member who would like to be anointed for whatever healing is needed. Hospitality in St. Joseph's Hall; call Anne Marie, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1237.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

"Have faith, have trust, have patience…
God has a plan for you, too."

FINAL CHANCE!

The miser had died and was standing before the Lord for his final judgment. Jesus and Peter were going through the Book of Life, but could find nothing good that the miser had done.  Finally, on the last page, as a footnote, it said that he had once given a pair of socks to the homeless. At this point, all out of patience, Peter said to Jesus, "Let's give him his socks back and send him to hell!"

Well, good people of St. John's, don't worry, you're not getting your socks back, and we hope to see you all in heaven! This is your final chance to bring socks and underwear for the homeless of St. Stephen's, Simpson, and the Women's Shelters.

As Scripture and Father Bill says, "
God hears the cries of the poor."
