ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY meets Tuesday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204.

WE HOST FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD the week of November 13 - 20. We will have a sign-up after all the Masses this weekend. Many of you know what a wonderful experience this ministry is, and we need 60 - 80 volunteers to make this week run smoothly. You can call Marilyn (763-571-6998), Mary (651-783-9354), or Anne Marie (651-633-8333, ext. 1237) to sign up. If you have never been involved in this ministry before, give it a try or call with your questions. Thank you.

THE COMMISSION ON WOMEN of the Archdiocese will be holding Listening Sessions around the Archdiocese this fall on the topic "Visioning the Church Women and Men Desire." Please consider attending, and bring a friend or two or the group you are involved with here at St. John's. It's a wonderful opportunity to dialogue with others about our beloved Church. They will be held at:

  • St. Joan of Arc, Oct. 17, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Our Lady of Grace, Oct. 25, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30p.m.
  • St. John's (Little Canada), Nov. 3, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

SO MANY OF YOU at St. John's serve others, but are never known or acknowledged. I often get to know about these very good and kind deeds. On behalf of the parish, thank you for being so good... God notices everything!

REMEMBER ALL who have asked for our community prayers. We have a long list in the bulletin, and many call our confidential prayer line. Prayer is a powerful ministry at our fingertips anytime of the day or night. I read somewhere that when we get to the place in our lives where we go inside to the God who dwells there and call on Him first, we have made steps to a healthier self, and we can then always live from that place where God guides all of our thoughts and actions. Our worries are lessened, our fears subside, and we trust the movement of God and His Spirit in even the mundane moments of our lives.

THE GROWING THROUGH LOSS SERIES concludes Tuesday, October 18, with "Where is God in our Suffering?" A healing service by Rev. Lisa Richardson follows, pastor of Abiding Lutheran, who is also the night's speaker and series host. Do you have questions about God's presence in your grief? Disbelief and anger with God are common, but so is a deeper faith. Rev. Richardson will help sort it out and offer hope. The program is from 6:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View. Small support groups follow the presentation; registration is taken. Childcare is free! For details, call Sue Amos Palmer at (651) 633-8333, ext. 1210.

FATHER BILL is leading a tour to the Holy Land, March 19 - 28, 2006. Brochures are available in The Plaza kiosks. Bookings close January 2006; don't be left behind!
