St. John the Baptist of New Brighton - Bulletin


	NO CLASSES for students on Thursday & Friday, October 20/21, because of the MEA Teachers' Convention. WE HAD WONDERFUL PARTICIPATION in our Marathon, and our first grade class, Room 101, won the prize for the best attendance at Central Park in Roseville on October 1. The school uses the Marathon as its major fundraiser with all families participating. Many parents contribute far more than the expected $100 per child donation. Many companies matched donations to the school this year so we are able to meet our $55,000 goal! WE WANT TO THANK ALL of our parishioners who gave so generously. I want to remind you that St. John's School is a United Way recipient and can be designated by anyone to receive funds. All of these contributions continue to help St. John's keep tuition increases to a reasonable amount and to assist families who choose our Catholic school, but can't cover the full tuition. Thank you again for your generosity! PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK the November Forerunner and read the article featuring our 2005 graduate, Ashley VanDanacker, who won a national award for the song she wrote in honor of the Year of the Eucharist. Congratulations to Ashley and her family! We are very proud of her.

SJB MEN'S FELLOWSHIP is a group of men who desire to be obedient to the will of God by gathering every week to share their faith and experiences through friendship, prayer, study, and fraternity. The next meeting is Thursday, October 20, in St. Joseph Hall, 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

DO YOU HAVE COMPASSION FOR KIDS? Work with 3^rd - 5^th graders at Bel Air Elementary School in New Brighton who are in need of positive role models. 	CUB SCOUT POPCORN SALE NEXT WEEKEND! St. John's Cub Scout Pack 93 is selling popcorn next weekend after all Masses. On average, 70% of sale proceeds goes to scouting. The Pack receives 35%, which we use for activities like camping, Blue & Gold Banquet, and Scout Awards. An additional 35% goes to the Northern Star Council for use in operating the scouting programs and camps for the benefit of all Cub and Boy Scouts in the Twin Cities area.
