On Tuesday, October 11, the topic is Holiday Heartaches with speaker Linda Lehmann, psychologist and bereavement coordinator for Children's Hospitals. Linda will offer holiday coping strategies when dealing with loss.  Series is from 6:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View. Small support groups follow each speaker; registration is taken at every session.  Childcare is available free of charge.  For details, call Sue Amos Palmer at (651) 633-8333, ext. 1210.

BEFRIENDERS will meet for an in-service on Wednesday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 208.

NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9, we will have our new Social Mission ministry opportunities highlighted at tables in The Plaza after all Masses. Please take time to read your October Forerunner explaining these opportunities for service, and come ready to ask questions and to try out a new place for providing service. The ministries have local, national, and global implications, and we have an opportunity at St. John's to really make good on our baptismal call to serve and respond to Catholic Social Teaching.  God bless each of you as you discern this.

WE ARE LOOKING for a new coordinator for St. John's Food Shelf. This job requires scheduling volunteers and training new volunteers. It is a minimal time commitment, but a necessary job to keep our food shelf running smoothly. Our current coordinator, Renee Jordan, has done a wonderful job, and we are grateful to her.  She will have the scheduling done until the end of the year. The job shift will happen as of Thursday, December 1. Call Anne Marie if this interests you, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1237.

WE ARE CURRENTLY IN NEED of a few more food shelf volunteers. The hours we are open are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.  Call Renee if you can help, (651) 636-8934.
