JustFAITH brought to the forefront issues I was aware of, but always at the outer edge of my consciousness, like: health care and housing needs; a "living" wage; the working poor and the poverty here in America and throughout the world; victims of war; the effects American policies have on our own citizens, as well as our neighbors in
Guatemala, Ecuador, the Middle East, etc. I now ask questions like "Who benefits?" "Who loses?" and "Does our materialistic way of life provide jobs for others or has it contributed to
reinstituting slavery and indentured servitude?" JustFAITH has provided me with a
vehicle to do this, but best of all, with support from others while on the journey.
-JOAN URBANSKI Injustice divides every human society, making some people
oppressors and others the oppressed. Awakening to how we as individuals and all of us as a rich society contribute to the misery of other human beings is disturbing. We do not want to see the connection between our power, status and wealth, and the suffering of others. With a little insight, we are forced to figure out what to do about the startling discrepancies among peoples. It takes courage, energy, and commitment to take action with others to speak out for victims of injustice. JustFAITH has given me new eyes to see inequalities and new companions to give me hope as we work together for change. JustFAITH is a Christian response to God who hears the cry of the poor.
