POST ABORTION HEALING: Rachel's Vineyard is offering a confidential retreat in the Twin Cities during the weekend of August 12-14 for parents hurting from an abortion. I WANT TO THANK St. John's 25 Befrienders who are matched with a person from the parish who has requested support of friendship, conversation, and often Eucharist. Over the last few months, several of our Befrienders have lost their Befriendee because of death.  Often, the Befriender is the quiet, unsung person who has been present and consistent in this friendship and now they are grieving a loss as is the family. I want to acknowledge every one of them and their work: Jane Arnott, Mary Battmer,  LaVonne Benning, Jan Bensing, Pat Brooke, Carmen Burris, Barb Cant, Pam Capouch, Barbara Compton, Diane Curley, Marilyn DeMarais, Barb Dufault, Don Geneva, Madeline Harrison, Bonnie Heslin, Lyla Hicks, Kathy Kapala, Greg Kapala, Jean Koslowski, Sue Amos Palmer, Judy Quayle, Ann Riley, Jake Sheck, Bill Spitzmueller, Marie Stepaniak. JustFAITH focuses on Catholic social teaching and the social mission of the Church, which are core elements of our faith. Many parishioners have little exposure to either of these. JustFAITH helps bridge our faith with action based on Gospel's call. Many graduates said that this is the most transformative process they have ever experienced.
