Pastoral Ministry News

IF YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE about nursing home ministry, just come sometime and get a feel for it. It is a very special time to spend with our friends in healthcare centers. Call Anne Marie, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1237

THANKS TO THOSE who stepped forward for Befriender training: Eleanor Carlson, Vicki Rothstein, Marlene Harms & Pat Johnson. Hold them in prayer.

THANKS TO EVERYONE who took time to tie a knot in our healing quilts... a blessing.

Social Mission News

SIGN UP TODAY for Families Moving Forward. Our guests will be here from November 26 - December 3.

FAIR TRADE coffee, tea, and chocolate (including Advent Calendars) will be available in St. Paul Plaza next weekend. Fair Trade is an alternative system of international trade rooted in principles of human dignity, economic justice, global solidarity, and respect for the environment. Changing the world, one cup at a time. PEACE COFFEE and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) connect low-income producers with socially conscious consumers. Our choices do make a difference!

OUR NEXT TIME to work at Feed My Starving Children is Friday, October 27, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.; 35 people are needed from 3rd grade on up. Call Karen & Tom Gahr if you want to come to package food, (763) 572-8430. A wonderful family time and a practical, hands-on way to serve those in need of a good meal.

OUR WEEKEND celebrating our sister parish in Jamaica was overwhelming. Your response as a parish was touching; very representative of the spirit of compassion and willingness to serve we see so often at St. John's. Our hope is that we can have a pilgrimage each year to Jamaica so that you can experience first hand what life is like for our brothers and sisters in Bull Bay (and meet the face of God in a new way). Keep this effort in your prayers as we pursue this bold adventure in justice.

GLOBAL WARMING: A Catholic Perspective is a free forum on Sunday, October 29, 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at Pax Christi Church in Eden Prairie, 12100 Pioneer Trail, (952) 941-3150. Featured speakers include Will Steger, explorer, and Paul Douglas, WCCO's chief meteorologist.

ENGAGED COUPLES: The next Wedding Workshop (Liturgy & Music Planning) will be on Saturday, October 21, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The first workshop  for  2007 is on Thursday, January 25, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Couples should attend this workshop at least six months before  selecting readings or planning music, photographers, and flowers. Please call Judy Quayle, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1229.

GETTING MARRIED:

Y Deborah Hall & Bradley Kuglin on Saturday,  October 28, at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Church

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES: A quote from one of St. John's Little Lights Preschoolers, "Teachers and Moms and Dads can eat faster because they have Big Mouths!" You can't argue with that logic...
