ATTENTION, First Reconciliation Parents: You get a break this week - no lesson to be covered because of the MEA Convention. Enjoy!

ATTENTION, ALL PARISHIONERS: The Butter Braid Breads are back by popular demand! On the weekend of October 28/29, the breads will be sold in St. Paul Plaza after all Masses. These breads come frozen; you simply let thaw and then bake for 20 minutes to enjoy a wonderful delicious treat for the family. They make great gifts. The bread comes in six flavors:  blueberry/cream cheese, cherry, cream cheese, cinnamon, apple, and raspberry. We will also be selling terrific caramel rolls. The cost of each loaf of bread is only $8. This is the major fundraiser for Elementary Faith Formation, and your purchase will help fund equipment for our students. We even have free samples for you to taste! Thank you in advance.

ATTENTION, ALL PARENTS: All Saints Day Party is coming! St. John's Faith Formation is hosting an All Saints  Party on Saturday, October 28, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon in the school gym and cafeteria. We will have fun, interactive games like St. Nicholas Coin Toss, St. Francis Petting Zoo, and St. Clare Musical Chairs. The kids will be able to make fun crafts, share treats, and trade saint cards. Ages 3 years to 5th grade are welcome. Kids can come dressed in their favorite costume or dressed up like a saint, and it's FREE! Just RSVP by calling (651) 633-1540, ext. 1234 or ext. 1255, so we know how many of you plan to attend.

CIRCLE OF WOMEN: Please note that there will be no gathering this Thursday, October 19, because of MEA. Join us next week on Thursday, October 26, 9:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., in Room 206. Mary Regnier, founder of Center of Brilliant Living, will be our guest speaker and she will speak on Nurturing Self: Reconnecting with your Spirit.

MEN'S FELLOWSHIP OF ST. JOHN'S meets every Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Hall. Visit our website at www.sjbmen.org, or call (612) 799-5618. We are faithful to all the teachings of Christ and His Church.

GOD IS ONE, HOW CAN HE BE THREE? Father Thomas Weinandy, Secretariat for Doctrine & Pastoral Practices at the USCCB, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 16, at the Univ. of St. Thomas, (651) 962-5700.

CATHOLIC ROCK N' ROLL is at Transfiguration Parish in Oakdale (6133 North 15th Street) on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m., featuring international Christian recording artist, John Michael Talbot! Tickets are only $20/person. Call the reservation hotline today to see if tickets are still available, (651) 501-2233.

THE CATHEDRAL YOUNG ADULTS welcome everyone to a five-week series lead by Father Joseph Johnson, Mass Confusion: Making Sense of the Catholic Mass, on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Hayden Hall at the St. Paul Cathedral, beginning October 18. Call (651) 291-4488.

ST. JOHN'S MARATHON was a "JOY-filled" experience. If you were able to attend, thanks for your support!  The students have raised over $45,000 as of Wednesday, October 4, with pledges and donations from families and friends. If you care to donate, please put money into an envelope at Mass and designate it as SJB Marathon.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who designate St. John's as a recipient of a Target donation. If you use a Target Visa or  Guest Card, and designate St. John's, Target will donate to the school a percentage of your purchases. It is truly a non-fundraising fundraiser!

OUR STUDENTS are participating in Stewardship. Students were given envelopes to fill out and use at each Sunday Mass. They can write how they have shared their time and talents during the week, and they can give money that they have earned. This is a way to encourage our school children to take care of God's gifts.

NO CLASSES for students on Thursday & Friday, October 19/20, because of the MEA Convention.
