Pastoral Ministry News

THANKS TO ALL who helped with the Healing Mass on October 11:  Befrienders Jane Arnott, Carmen Burris, and Judy Quayle; our faith filled priests, Fr. Skluzacek and Fr. Magnuson; Jay Hunstiger for music; and all of you who came. It is truly one of the most beautiful and touching experiences to witness.

WE NEED HELP at Benedictine Health Center on the 1st Thursday of the month at 11:45 a.m. If you would like to be trained or just see how the Word/Communion Service is done, call Anne Marie at (651) 633-8333, ext. 1237.

Social Mission News

FAIR TRADE coffee, tea, and chocolate (including Advent Calendars) will be available in St. Paul Plaza after each Mass today. It's simple; it's fair. No one person becomes obscenely rich by making another human being disgracefully poor. Changing the world, one cup at a time. PEACE COFFEE and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) connect low-income producers with socially conscious consumers. Our choices do make a difference!

OUR NEXT TIME to work at Feed My Starving Children is Friday, October 27, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.; 35 people are needed from 3rd grade on up. Call Karen & Tom Gahr if you want to come to package food, (763) 572-8430. A wonderful family time and a practical, hands-on way to serve those in need of a good meal.

GLOBAL WARMING: A Catholic Perspective is a free forum sponsored by  the Office for Social Justice on Sunday, October 29, 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at Pax Christi Church in Eden Prairie, 12100 Pioneer Trail, (952) 941-3150. Featured speakers include Will Steger, Polar explorer; Paul Douglas, WCCO's chief meteorologist; and Dr. John Hart, environmental theologian from Boston University. Register at www.osjspm.org/globalwarming.

POPE BENEDICT on the environment: "In dialogue with Christians of various churches, we need to commit ourselves to caring for the created world, without squandering its resources, and sharing them in a cooperative way. In particular, environmental degradation makes poor people's existence intolerable."

"STRAIGHTEN UP and Fly Right! An Unforgettable Tribute to Nat King Cole," featuring famous Jazz singer Maurice Jacox, has been written by St. John's Contemporary Music Director, Bob Pontious. The show is on Friday, November 10, at 8:30 p.m. at the Medina Ballroom. Tickets are on sale now, but they won't last! This show is a major hit, so get your tickets by calling the Medina Ballroom, (763) 478-6661. You can also contact Bob Pontious at (763) 755-9315 about getting tickets for a limited number of RSVP seats on the dance floor. Good luck!
