"AS WE TINKER with the beginning, the end, and even the intimate cell structure of life, we tinker with our own identity as a free nation dedicated to the dignity of the human person. When American political life becomes an experiment on people rather than for and by them, it will no longer be worth conducting. We are arguably moving closer to that day. Today, when the inviolable rights of the human person are proclaimed and the value of life publicly affirmed, the most basic human right, 'the right to life,' is being denied or trampled upon, especially at the more significant moments of existence, the moment of birth and the moment of death."
Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, 18 U.S. Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, n. 4

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! The blue sock containers are back, and this is our 6th year collecting socks (and underwear) for the homeless. Each year we take the socks and underwear to Simpson House where they are shared with St. Stephen's and the Women's Shelter. Each shelter goes through about 300 pairs a month. A homeless person is given only 1 pair of socks a week. How long can a pair of socks last when they have no laundry facilities and are walking the streets each day? It's just one waythat we can help "...these, the least of our brothers and sisters."
