Pastoral Ministry News

Attention, all Volunteers in Pastoral & Social Ministry: We want to assure that all the areas of ministry that Anne Marie Bartlett was involved in continue without interruption. Several staff members and volunteers have stepped up to assist and make sure our parishioners are well served. In particular, Deacon Peter D'Heilly, Judy Quayle, Deacon Rod Palmer, and Bill Urbanski have agreed to take on leadership in various areas. If you have a question about a certain area of pastoral or social ministry, please call Deacon D'Heilly or Judy Quayle and they can direct you to the right person.

PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING a meeting of all volunteers in the pastoral and social justice ministry areas on Monday, September 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. This includes nursing home volunteers, befrienders, hospital ministers, Respect Life, JustFaith, St. Vincent de Paul, etc. All members in these ministries should attend!

WATCH FOR upcoming information about the next Blessing of the Quilts. There are currently two left. This is such a gift of blessing, and the quilters are so dedicated to their ministry. If you have a loved one who would like a quilt, call Judy Quayle, (651) 633-8333, ext. 1229.

FAIR TRADE coffee, tea, and chocolates have been going strong now for three years, and they will be available for purchase after all Masses next weekend. This has been a wonderful ministry initiated by parishioners who have been part of the JustFaith program and found a way to use that experience to affect justice in the world. Your support is appreciated by people we have never met.

JUSTFAITH weekend was on August 4/5, and perhaps you are still considering taking part this year. Or, perhaps you signed up and are anticipating this rich experience. The community of people from St. John's who have been part of JustFaith are a faith-filled, supportive, and growing group that you will love to know.

MORE AND MORE parishes in the archdiocese are establishing or nurturing ongoing relationships with parishes in other countries. Our relationship with Food for the Poor continues to grow stronger. You can begin sending envelopes to Food for the Poor from the Plaza kiosks that will go toward building houses for our friends in Bull Bay, Jamaica. More information to come in October.

FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD guests will be coming  the week of October 7. Mark your calendars now and sign up by calling Mary Gormley at (651) 783-9354 or Marilyn DeMarais at (763) 360-6197. Your support is appreciated, and lots of volunteer help is needed. Sign up after Masses will be on the weekend of September 8/9.
