Pastoral Ministry News
STAY TUNED for the next Blessing of the Quilts. It will be in the fall. Many have been comforted by this gift...

FROM THE PASTOR: "It's often hot and humid outside, and I give thanks for all of you who have come to worship here today in the name of Jesus, in spite of the weather. I give thanks for our air conditioning that enables me to preach and you to listen to the Word of God. Your faithful offerings, week by week, enable us to pay our utility bills in order that all who suffer from weather related conditions can join us, regardless of the outside temperature, to share in our Christian community. Thank you!"

Social Mission News

THERE ARE SEVERAL publications on the Book Rack in St. Paul Plaza that are very helpful to read on social mission work and Catholic Social teaching. Consider purchasing one of these to find out where you might become more involved and to learn about justice and systems and our responsibilities as Catholics.

EACH MONTH there is news on the tables where Peace Coffee is sold. This is generally current information around issues and work being done now. Please, when you purchase your Fair Trade products, take advantage of learning more.

FOOD FOR THE POOR envelopes are in the kiosks in St. Paul Plaza. As we begin the next part of this journey with our sister parish, money is being raised to build homes for our friends in Bull Bay, Jamaica. One house, very meager mind you, costs only $2,600 to build. For the families in Bull Bay, these homes are a huge upgrade from current living quarters. Please consider helping to build a home. More importantly, continue to see if going on the next pilgrimage to meet the folks and experience life in Bull Bay is for you. On an October weekend this year, you will see and learn more. This is a wonderful sign of living our faith and serving one another...

THE FOOD SHELF is being used so much this summer; thanks for all your donations. They are being used up almost as fast as the shelves are filled!

"SOCIAL SECURITY'S long term prospects are bleak because of rapid and unprecedented population aging... falling fertility. Societies that do not produce children will, quite naturally, grow older. And there is simply no bigger problem that a low birth rate for a conventional 'pay-as-you-go' pension system like Social Security."
