Social Mission News

"JUST AS A MOTHER OR FATHER dedicates a disproportionate amount of time and energy to a child who is sick, without for that reason loving their other children any less, Christians are called to focus their efforts preferentially toward the most needy and defenseless among us."

CLOTHING DRIVE: The St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John's is having a Clothing Drive on Saturday, October 6, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, in St. John's West Parking Lot. Especially needed are clean children's coats. Children's books, in good condition, will also be accepted. If you have questions, please call Carole Beggs at (651) 639-9103.

ON THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 13/14, Fr. Skluzacek will speak at all Masses about the many benefits of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.

Why do we have Eucharistic Adoration?

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Pope John Paul II are examples of the fruits of Eucharistic Adoration. No matter how busy they were, they made sure that they spent time with the most important Person of all: Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Everyday, they spent two or three hours in His Eucharistic Presence, and they told the whole world that this was where they got all their energy to do so much for God and His people.

ADORERS ARE NEEDED FOR THESE HOURS:

Tuesday, 2 AM - 3 AM
Friday, 5 AM - 6 AM
Friday, 4 PM - 5PM
Friday, 6 PM - 7 PM
Saturday, 1 AM - 2 AM

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: The annual potluck for adorers will be Friday, October 26, following a special 6:00 p.m. Mass for adorers. Please call Dorothy at (651) 636-1660 or Jerry at (651) 636-2054 for details or to sign up for a weekly hour of Adoration. God bless you.

RESPECT LIFE WEEKEND is October 6 & 7, and guest speaker Deacon Stephen Najarian, M.D., will talk at all Masses on End of Life Issues. Through your prayers and donations, please support our Give for Life Collection that weekend. Help us to continue our mission to respect all human life, from natural conception to natural death. Deacon Najarian will return on Tuesday, October 16, to give a more detailed presentation on End of Life Issues.
