St. John's Little Lights Preschool is dedicated to nurturing the growth of every child in a Christian-based atmosphere that honors the worth of children, supports their families, and respects the diversity of all people.
St. John’s Little Lights Preschool offers a Christian based early childhood experience withing the Catholic tradition for children ages three to five. Little Lights offers a hands-on and play-based approach to learning in a bright, welcoming, caring Christian atmosphere and is licensed by the state of Minnesota.
Half-day classes are offered morning or afternoon and there is an extended option for those that need to come as early as 8:00pm and/or stay as late as 5:00pm. All students must be three by August 31st and be potty trained.
The calendar follows the Mounds View School District and St. John’s School calendars for conferences and breaks.
Teachers work closely with families to ensure a good transition to a positive first school experience. Classes are limited to 16 in the three year old classes and 18 in the four/five year old classes with two teachers in each classroom. The days are structured with opportunities to play in both large and small groups, large group interaction, individual attention and peer-relationship building. We strive to encourage positive social skills and respect for all God’s creations, all while having fun. As a hand-on approach to literacy, we engage in the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Math and Science are also hands on with counting, sorthing, patterning, and use of cause and effect experiments.
We explose the childern to different art mediums to express thier artisitic outlets and promote open-ended projects.
