Fr. Skluzacek was ordained a priest in 1980. He became pastor of St. John’s in 2006. He is our spiritual leader and is responsible for the pastoral care of the people of St. John the Baptist.

Mary is part of the ABLE program for "Assisting Better Lives for Elders". ABLE is a partnership between St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Benedictine Health Care Center at Innsbruck. The purpose of the program is to assist in meeting the needs of the elder parishioners in their own homes.

Preschool

Mary is the director of Little Lights preschool and is responsible for the operations of the preschool including registrations, communications, licensing guidelines, teacher support , tuition, etc. Mary has been part of the preschool since it opened in October of 2001.

Miss Mary Ann is a lead teacher for the Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning and afternoon classes and Tuesday/Thursday morning and afternoon classes. Miss Mary Ann attended University of Wisconsin-Stout and has been with the preschool program since it opened in October 2001, and teams up with co-teacher Miss Emily.

Jay is the music and liturgy director for the parish. He leads the music at three of the five weekend liturgies, funerals, weddings, holidays and holy days from the organ. He trains the lay ministers and prepares them for their liturgical duties. He also prepares the Mass leaflets, heads the Arts and Environment Committee, and directs the choir and schola.

I am currently a choir director at Shakopee Middle School and general music instructor at Shakopee Junior High. I received a BA in Music and French education from Luther College. I grew up at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. My most recent job was at St. Philip's Church in North Minneapolis. I am excited to be working with this parish and helping provide beautiful music each week!

Lori is a graduate of Derham Hall High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from the University of Minnesota. She has been active in church music for almost 40 years, serving as a cantor, director, pianist and ensemble singer. She also sings with the Minnesota Chorale. She lives in St. Paul with her German Shepherd, Maya.

Eileen Secord
Handbell Choir Director

Eileen has been a member of St. John’s for over 30 years. She learned to play handbells at St. John’s and has been playing and directing bell choirs for 25 years. Eileen has directed children’s choirs at St. John’s and two other churches in the northern suburbs and has directed the bell choir at St. John’s since 2007. She is responsible for teaching new ringers how to ring bells, leading rehearsals, and care and maintenance of the bell equipment. The bell choir plays at Mass once a month and in the Christmas and Easter season.

The maintenance department goal is to provide a safe, secure and clean environment that is well maintained for our parishioners, staff, students and visitors of our campus.
