Pastor's Bio
[Father Skloo - zah -

Praised be Jesus Christ!
As I begin my ministry among
you as your pastor, I am very happy that Gods providence has sent
me as shepherd of the people of St. John the Baptist Parish. I have
heard many wonderful things about this parish, and I look forward to
serving you and being with you as your pastor.
The feast we celebrate today couldnt be more
fitting as my first Sunday among you. The Body and Blood of Christ,
the Most Holy Eucharist, is the source and summit of our Christian
life. Everything we do as members of the Body of Christ draws its
strength from the Eucharist and leads toward the Eucharist.
The Eucharist is our life.
I was so happy to learn that St. John the Baptist
has a Perpetual Adoration Chapel. A parish that is constantly
praying, centered in the Eucharist, and united to the Body of Christ
is blessed indeed. And a parish that makes the Sunday celebration of
the Eucharist its heart and center will stay on the right path to
God.
It is fitting that this, my first Sunday as your
pastor, is also Fathers Day. Its no accident that Catholics call
their priests Father. All priests, and in a special way pastors,
are called by God to be fathers to their people. Just as earthly
fathers nourish, lead, and guide their children, so also priests
nourish their people with the Body and Blood of the Lord, lead them
in the ways of holiness, and guide them to heaven by teaching them
the way.
Earthly fathers are also called by God to lead
their children in the ways of the Lord. Christian fathers have a
distinctive vocation to nourish their children by making sure they
get to Mass and Confession. They lead their children by their own
example of prayer and virtuous living, and they guide them by
teaching them the truths of the faith.
Please keep me in your prayers daily, that I may be
a faithful shepherd, modeling my ministry always on that of the Good
Shepherd, Jesus Christ. I promise to pray for you daily, especially
in the Mass. As our Responsorial Psalm today says, I will take
the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.
