~ FAITH FORMATION ~

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

We are looking forward to a great year in the St. John's Faith Formation Program and want to welcome you and your family.

To the left, you will find a family registration form and an information sheet for you to complete and return to the Faith Formation Office.

NOTE: See our policy, approved by the Parish Council, below.

Also enclosed is a volunteer sign-up form. Please look this over carefully and check the area(s) in which you are able to help out. Teachers and team teachers receive tuition reduction. Full time teachers receive one student at no cost; half-time teachers receive a student at half cost. Our programs here at St. Johns depend on volunteers. We need your help in whatever area you can share your time and talents.

Thank you for being part of St. John's Faith Formation Program. If you have any questions, please call the Faith Formation Office at 651-633-1540.

Policy for Religious Education Registration

Sister Clarinda Coffel, Faith Formation Director

RATIONALE:

Religious Education classes are an important part of the growth in faith life for the children and young adults of our parish. In order that this service is the best that it can be, it is necessary that registrations be entered by the middle of August. Books need to be purchased and teachers recruited and available for in-services before all classes begin in mid-September. Class size is a concern for each teacher, and an effort is made to keep the classes at about 10 to 12 students per teacher.

POLICY:

All students and young adults must be registered for classes by August 15th of each year that they are attending. If registrations come in after this time, they may be assigned home study and placed on a waiting list until space is available.

PROCEDURE:

> Registrations will begin in the spring. Sacraments are a separate registration form.

> Registration and credit card payment can also be completed on the web site, www.stjohnnb.com, and faxed to the Parish Office at (651) 633-7404.

> The registration fee can be paid at the time of registration, or you can be billed in August.

> If you choose to volunteer as a catechist while your child/children are in the programs, discounts are available.

> Class lists will be prepared by September 1 st .

> Once accepted into a session -- changing sessions will not be permitted unless there is an opening.

Approved by the Parish Council (2 February 2005)
